Filbert Ip grew up in his father’s restaurant in Venezuela before moving to The United States in 2003. After graduating from Florida State University in 2012 he joined a Fortune 100 company in the San Francisco bay area working as a chemical engineer. Filbert quickly realized that the corporate path was not for him and returned home to South Florida to open Gold Marquess Fine Chinese Cuisine in 2015. With another vision, he created a sister project, Yip, that has now grown to five fast-casual locations with more neighborhoods to come in the near future.
Fast forward to the present, Filbert’s parents decided to retire after the pandemic and he wanted to continue his family’s legacy. He knew Gold Marquess had become a local staple, but wanted to create something new and exciting for Pembroke Pines. While keeping the same kitchen space and infrastructure of the restaurant, he decided to renovate the space and spring Baoshi Food Hall. This remodeled venue would fill its indoor and outdoors space with five Asian-inspired culinary delights, live entertainment, and a full service bar.
Filbert wishes to continue inviting more people to the eastern flavors where he grew up eating savory dumplings, longevity noodles and to taste recipes that will bring you back for more.
