Angel Leon
Meet Executive Chef Angel Leon
The man behind the top Miami Riverside Brassiere. Seaspice
Born and bred in Miami of Cuban descent, Chef Angel Leon’s passion for cooking developed early in life; working in his grandparent’s bakeries from the age of 11 which earned him a foundation of hard work and discipline. At 17 years of age, Angel started his professional career as part of the opening team of Azul at the Mandarin Oriental Miami, working under James Beard Foundation Award-winner Michelle Bernstein. By his early twenties, Angel was working under his mentor, renowned Chef Pascal Oudin, enabling the budding French-trained Chef to hone his craft alongside a true Haute French cuisine expert. After moving up the ranks in Miami kitchens, Chef Leon was selected by award-winning chef and restauranteur Timon Balloo, to be the opening Chef de Cuisine for Sugarcane Miami and would later be part of the opening team for Daniel Boulud’s DB Bistro Moderne (Boulud Sud.) In 2014, Chef Angel joined the wildly popular Seaspice Brasserie & Lounge in Miami. As Executive Chef at Seaspice, Chef Leon crafts globally inspired elevated and sustainable cuisine that spans from the brasserie’s signature wood-fired seafood casseroles, homemade pasta, and a lavish crudo bar, to avant-garde takes on international classics. Seaspice offers a restaurant-quality experience in a special event setting for such a high profile, where Chef Angel has been honored to serve as the official chef for the First Lady, Michelle Obama as well as local and international celebrities, TV show premieres, and presidential dinners.
