Chef Rita Tennyson not only won SOBEWFF 2022 coveted “The Very Best Burger Award” at its popular Burger Bash’s last year, she also was named M.I.A. Media Group Honoree for South Florida’s Most Powerful and Influential Black Business Leaders of 2022. Born and raised in Miami, Chef Rita spent her summers on the beautiful island of Roatan, Honduras. There, she developed her passion for cooking, using local fresh tropical ingredients, robust flavors, and spices. Chef Rita started at the age of sixteen, working her way up and learning the tricks of the trade of the restaurant industry. She has worked professionally for nearly 30 years in the restaurant and catering industry. Her culinary experience and passion lead her to open her own catering company, R Catering & Events LLC in 2007.
