Description

Heitz Cellar is one of the last remaining classical Estate's in the New World's most heralded wine region, The Napa Valley. With Viticulture and Vinification continually evolving over the last century, few Estates have stayed true to their roots for so long. Guided by the pioneering philosophy of a man who ushered in an era of site-specificity and a focus on terroir, Heitz Cellar continues to innovate both in the vineyard and in the cellar. The goal remains the same, to craft the world's most elegant and balanced wines that purely express the uniqueness of where they are grown.

This Seminar will focus on the history of Heitz Cellar and how an American Icon in the wine industry can simultaneously stay true to their identity while continuing to push the envelope to leave a better Estate for future generations.

GUEST PRESENTER:
Erik Elliott

Heitz Cellar Estate Director & Advanced Sommelier Erik Elliott grew up in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Temple University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, before selling everything that he owned to move to Aspen, CO to pursue his dream of becoming a Master Sommelier.

Erik landed at the world-renowned and James Beard-nominated wine program, The Little Nell at the base of Aspen Mountain, and worked his way up to become the Lead Sommelier. When his mentor Carlton McCoy Jr., accepted a position as the President and CEO of Heitz Cellar, Erik felt that he still had more to learn and traded the mountains of Aspen for the vineyards of Napa Valley, accepting a position as the Estate Director at Heitz Cellar. He continues to prepare for the Master Sommelier Diploma, which he will take for the first time later this year, in July of 2021.

All proceeds from the Festival benefit the students of the Florida International University Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management who assist Festival organizers in all aspects, including Festival planning, logistics and overall execution.
