Chef Tom Jackson is a Kansas native, born and raised in Wichita. He attended Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon and studied both Culinary Arts as well as Baking and Pastry while working as a cook in a variety of restaurants.

After culinary school he worked as a bread baker and pastry chef at the renowned Ken’s Artisan Bakery in northwest Portland, and spent more than four years honing his skills under James Beard Award winning chef and owner Ken Forkish.

Longtime friends of the owners of All Things Barbecue, Chef Tom and his family returned to Kansas in 2014 to help ATBBQ develop and organize their outdoor cooking classes.

Tom has developed his talent for low and slow barbecue while cooking alongside world champion pitmasters and chefs, both in the U.S. and overseas. This is his third consecutive invitation to the South Beach Wine and Food Festival and he was recently featured as an international guest at the Meatstock BBQ & Music Festival in Sydney, Australia.

Over the past four years Tom has helped the All Things Barbecue team launch a weekly cooking series on YouTube that has been constantly growing, now with more than a quarter of a million subscribers. Tom’s ability to fuse his culinary arts background with traditional barbecue techniques and the addition of beautifully crafted visuals has led the channel to gain a rabid following.
