Executive Chef Stephen Ullrich combines a passion for high quality ingredients with his personal connection to Coconut Grove at Tigertail + Mary. A Miami native, Ullrich went to high school in Switzerland and traveled throughout Europe as a teenager. During a trip to Italy, he had his first fine dining experience at Enoteca Pinchiorri, an upscale restaurant in Florence and that one exceptional meal inspired him to pursue a career as a chef.

In 2011, Ullrich moved to New York City and enrolled in the French Culinary Institute to pursue a Grand Diplome in Culinary Arts. While in school, he trailed at notable restaurants in New York City, including Georges Mendes’ Mediterranean-inspired Aldea and Danny Meyer’s acclaimed Gramercy Tavern, but was inspired to return to Miami’s fresh produce and laid back lifestyle to pursue his culinary path. When he’s not in the kitchen, Ullrich enjoys fishing, playing golf, and spending time with his family and their German Shepard, Fritz.
