Chef Stephen Ullrich brings his passion for cooking and nearly a decade of hands-on experience to Conrad Orlando as the Director of Culinary for the property’s five dining venues.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, and earning his Bachelor of Science degree from the Boston College of Business, Ullrich pivoted to begin a career in the culinary arts and pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a chef. Taking his passion for creating elevated dining experiences and combining it with producing thoughtful, nuanced dishes, Ullrich moved to New York City and began his formal training at the French Culinary Institute while testing his skills first-hand in some of the city’s most prestigious kitchens. His experience includes tutelage by Chef Dani Garcia while working as a Sous Chef at Manzanilla, serving as Chef de Partie for Gramercy Tavern, and time at Colicchio & Sons and Aldea as a line cook. One of Ullrich’s career-defining achievements includes his time as Chef de Cuisine for MICHELIN star-rated Seasonal Restaurant and Weinbar in New York City.
Going back to his roots, Ullrich returned to Miami to take the helm as Executive Chef for several well-known hotel restaurants and hospitality groups, including 1 Hotel Miami Beach, Carillion Miami Wellness Resort and James Beard Award-winning Genuine Hospitality Group. Within these roles, he excelled at guiding new concept expansion and creative menu development, along with encouraging the growth of successful kitchen teams and aspiring future chefs.
Ullrich resides in Windermere, Florida, with his wife, daughter, son, and two dogs. When not crafting masterful dishes or managing the kitchen, he enjoys competitive shooting, playing golf and listening to jazz.
