Ryo Kato
Chef Ryo Kato is a Omakase specialized chef based in Miami. Since the bright age of 20, Ryo has been on a mission to introduce the “Omakase” style sushi to the states and share the culture to sushi enthusiasts who have yet to have this establishment in Miami. Humbly starting off in private kitchens and events, is now an established and profound Omakase Chef, leading charge for many of the first Omakase style sushi eateries in Miami.
In 2011, Ryo joined SushiSAMBA Miami as Executive Sous chef, until 2015 when he met Chef Kazuo Yoshida of 1 or 8, working closely with him for pop ups in the Hamptons, to oversee Miami’s first sushi truck offering only Omakase style sushi in Wynwood, MYUMI. Ryo being the sole chef of the truck, it has been loved and been voted in Miami’s best sushi by Miami Times since its opening in 2015.
Chef Kato then pivoted to taking on the roll as Executive chef at Sushi By Bou at the Versace Mansion until 2019. December of 2020, Kato successfully opened his first restaurant to much acclaim, Mr. Omakase in Downtown Miami serving as Executive Chef/Owner. Several years in a row, Mr. Omakase has been on the best sushi omakase restaurant lists and rated as a top restaurant in Miami.
