Ricardo Trillos

Ricardo Trillos was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed a degree in Accounting and got married with Anelith Ortega in 1998. They have two kids, Sophia (11) and Camila (9).

Ricardo and his wife decided to move from his hometown country – Venezuela to United States in 2004 looking for better and different opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Ricardo Trillos was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He completed a degree in Accounting and got married with Anelith Ortega in 1998. They have two kids, Sophia (11) and Camila (9).

Ricardo and his wife decided to move from his hometown country – Venezuela to United States in 2004 looking for better and different opportunities to grow personally and professionally. Cao has always been his nickname since many years ago and that’s the way his family and friends call him all the time.

It was only a couple of months after he moved that realized how much he was missing the good and rich Venezuelan chocolate and the rest is history.
After years learning about chocolates and asking his family in Venezuela to bring chocolates every time they visit, the passion turned into a hobby and he decided to go beyond and purchase books besides attending any chocolate making class available in the area.

Working in accounting during the day and making chocolates at night and weekends just for fun is how he was spending most of his time until decided to take the hobby to another level and make a dream happen. In 2009 he established Cao Chocolates and in 2012 open his first retail location where he make chocolate from scratch using cacao beans from around the world.

Ricardo has been trained by premier institution as Ecole Chocolat, Chocolate Academy, The French Pastry School and more. Also, he had assisted several recognized chef within the industry. He also travels around the world visiting cacao plantation to learn more from the farmers.

Ricardo has received several recognitions, including “Diamond of the rough” and “Rising Star Award” from de Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce.

In 2016 he was invited by Food Network to participate as a contestant at Guy’s Groceries Games “Chocolate games” episode.
