Chef Steve Mendez officially earned his stripes at some of the Caribbean’s most established restaurants and alongside several of America’s most treasured culinary icons. His current passion focuses not only on bringing people together to eat good, sustainable organic food, but gathering people together to eat sumptuous feasts.

Initially pursuing his dream of being an electrical engineer, Chef Steve learned commitment and teamwork, but ultimately shifted his goals to the culinary world when he found employment within a small hotel.

Chef Steve Mendez officially earned his stripes at some of the Caribbean’s most established restaurants and alongside several of America’s most treasured culinary icons. His current passion focuses not only on bringing people together to eat good, sustainable organic food, but gathering people together to eat sumptuous feasts.

Initially pursuing his dream of being an electrical engineer, Chef Steve learned commitment and teamwork, but ultimately shifted his goals to the culinary world when he found employment within a small hotel.

He is an advocate for the Slow Food Movement, which focuses on the time and effort it takes to cook. Earning his culinary arts degree allowed Chef Steve to celebrate and utilize his father’s farming background, which helped him to quickly develop and master the art form.

Later he secured employment within the cruise industry, traveling extensively throughout the Caribbean and across the United States with Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Chef Steve joined the ESquared Hospitality team in the winter of 2017 as the Chef de Cuisine at BLT Prime, located in Miami, Florida.
