Angelo Masarin / Co-Owner & Executive Chef of Salumeria 104 / Coral Gables & Midtown Miami

Born in the Venetian Province of Treviso, Italy, Angelo Masarin donned his first apron in Milan at the age of seventeen. Chef Masarin’s passion for food stems from his upbringing. He learned from the best – assisting his grandfather in making wine and salumi and picking mountain mushrooms and wild asparagus with his grandmother. In his first job as a sous chef, Masarin went to the fish market every morning to pick out the daily catch. Chef Masarin’s experiences taught him the importance of fresh seasonal ingredients, which remains his priority, to this day.

Chef Masarin attended the prestigious Istituto Professionale Alberghiero Giuseppe Maffioli, the Culinary Institute of Castelfranco Veneto. His skills and enthusiasm led to positions at some of the most notable Italian restaurants – including Harry’s Bar and Locanda Cipriani.

From 2001 to 2008, Masarin was executive chef at Spris Restaurant in Hartford, Connecticut.

In 2009, Chef Masarin relocated to Miami. From 2009-2011 he served as Chef de Cuisine at Sardinia Enoteca, Chef de Partie at Casa Tua and sous chef at SoHo House’s Cecconi’s. In 2011, Masarin’s dream of opening his own restaurant became a reality, when along with Graziano Sbroggio and Carlo Donadoni, Masarin became the co-owner and executive chef of Salumeria 104 in Midtown Miami. In June 2018, Masarin and partners opened their second Salumeria 104 on the iconic Miracle Mile in the heart of historic Coral Gables.

Salumeria 104 is equal parts salumeria (Italian delicatessen) and trattoria. Chef Masarin’s menu features traditional salumi dishes (cured meats) as well as classic Italian favorites. Masarin does it the old-fashioned way. Everything is hand made in house from the finest and freshest ingredients. A word from Chef Masarin: “Our mission is to celebrate food, family and community. I’m proud to be part of Miami’s vibrant culinary and cultural scene. I love being a chef. Food is love. I love feeding people and making them happy.”
