For 12 years, Lauren dedicated her life to raising her four children, creating a warm and loving home where her love for cooking and baking blossomed. She honed her skills by avidly watching cooking shows and devouring cookbooks, gradually turning her passion into a career.
The spark of inspiration ignited when she envisioned a business that could merge her love for children and cooking. In 2012, Lauren’s first culinary venture, “Little Chefs In Training,” was born. Here, she taught teens and children the art of baking and cooking, offering exciting summer camps and hosting themed birthday parties. Her events were so popular that they filled up within minutes, reflecting her exceptional talent for making food fun and engaging for kids.
The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, forcing her business to close temporarily. Lauren, however, embraced the opportunity to pivot, offering takeout and delivery with a simplified menu. Her community fell in love with her food, and the demand for her culinary creations grew.
Seeing the potential to create something special, Lauren embarked on a bold journey. Over the first year of the pandemic, she transformed her space into Southern Charm Bistro. The bistro exudes the ambiance of an old-school speakeasy, with jazz music always playing and captivating decor featuring photographs of legends like Louis Armstrong and Diana Ross adorning the walls.
The menu at Southern Charm Bistro is a delightful trip down memory lane for the community, featuring dishes that evoke the comforts of home. Highlights include Southern biscuits that leave patrons in awe, fried chicken cooked to perfection and served piping hot, and an array of delectable vegetarian options, such as the Sweet Potato Wild Rice Bowl and the Black Lentil Bowl with maple-glazed Brussels sprouts.
