Juan Manuel Barrientos Valencia, known in the gastronomic world as “Juanma” and social networks like @juanmaelcielo, he was born in Medellín on June 16, 1983 -35 years old-, he is a chef, businessman, speaker , peace leader. With more than twelve restaurants, bars and clubs, he is the creator and founder of the restaurant chain Elcielo (Medellín, Bogotá, Miami), as La Serenissima (chain of pizzerias), Cuon, Kai, Elcielo Classic (Hotel Intercontinental de Medellín), Shibari. At his 34 years old was invited by former President Barack Obama to the World Entrepreneurship Summit, one of the most important entrepreneurship meeting in the world, as a speaker . He also works as a consultant in creativity and innovation, supporting the redesign of the DNA of important companies. It has been recognized as the youngest chef in the 50best of Latin America for three consecutive years. It has a great influence and thousands of followers in social networks. His career began at the side of renowned chefs as Iwao Komiyama (Argentina) and Juan Mari Arzak (Spain). He started his Foundation eleven years ago, based on non-violence, where he trains soldiers wounded in combat, ex-guerrillas indigenous people and victims, sharing their work with more than seven Nobel Peace Prize winners. The restaurant Elcielo was selected as a study case of INALDE Business School of the University of La Sabana, success story written by Ernesto Barrera Duque, professor of Innovation, and published by IESE of Barcelona (Spain), one of the best business schools in the world. In 2016, he was part of the Exclusive listing of World’s Best Chef. In 2019 we will start the construction of Elcielo Washington D.C. in the Union Market District of the US capital and the construction of the Elcielo hotel in El Poblado, in Medellin.
