DJ GQ was born Gary Hardie in Miami, Florida, and raised in Jamaica by Cuban/Chinese Jamaican parents. He’s affiliated with Akon, DMX, Mr. Vegas, Skip Marley and has been Kevin Lyttle’s tour DJ since “Turn Me On” was one of the top songs in the world.
GQ dropped his first album “Is It You?” On October 9th 2020, which charted #1 on the iTunes Reggae charts in its first 2 hours, and #10 on the Billboard Reggae charts in its second week. He continues to perform internationally throughout the year while holding South Florida nightclub residencies weekly.
He was on Remix Top 30 with Hollywood Hamilton in over 100 cities (One of the biggest syndicated mix shows in the US, iHeart/Premiere Networks), and was the first Top40 Mixer on Y100. He is still currently on Y100 Miami (iHeart) weekly, and does Specialty Mixes on Bob Marley’s Tuff Gong Radio (SiriusXM). The launch of his newest show “Dancehall Cyaan Done” (on Bob Marley’s Tuft Gong Radio, SiriusAM channel 19) launched August 2023.
DJ GQ speaks to hundreds of kids annually about careers in music, and donates time to multiple organizations, one being the Grammy Association which he also has sat on the board as a governor.
In 2024 he won an EDMA (The Electronic Dance Music Awards) for Mixshow DJ Of The Year (Top 40 / Dance).
