Dan Kosta’s name became synonymous with world-class Pinot Noir when he co-founded the acclaimed Kosta Browne Winery in 1997. His success came after a lifetime of wine appreciation with his journey beginning at an early age where he found his passion for hospitality and wine. In 2011, Kosta Browne became the only Pinot Noir ever featured as Wine Spectator’s #1 wine of the year, securing their position as the top producer of world-class Pinot Noir.
After selling Kosta Brown in 2018, Dan started his next chapter in 2022 with Convene by Dan Kosta. Acknowledging his palette had evolved, he sought to make wines that were the epitome of elegance, crafting Pinot Noir that harnesses the undeniable power of the place. Maximizing what mother nature presents in the vineyard, blending art and science and discovering the best ways to let the grape express itself is central to Dan’s philosophy. In this pursuit, he traveled the state of California searching for vineyards that pushed the boundaries of where the notoriously finicky grape could be grown, and for more than 15 vintages, Dan and winemaker Shane Finely have collaborated on wines that express terroir and embrace the best possible vineyard sources and exceptional growers who share a deep history.
