When life opens a door we must be willing to walk in, well that’s how Barry “El Gringo” began his transition into cooking. When getting involved in a cuban family restaurant to provide a financial and marketing facelift, he realized the creative side needed some help as well. The bug bit him he loved creating in the kitchen improving quality of traditional meals and creating new offerings while maintaining the history and the roots of the menu. Barry then formed friendships and bonds in the industry with true chefs and restaurateurs they fed his hunger for making old new. Now 10 years later this hunger continues, he says “if I could show half the love and passion of mothers and grandmothers in the kitchen I will have succeeded ” so when you are tasting a little bit of El Gringo simply smile if you enjoyed and if you didnt tell him.
