ANNA ROBBINS
Founder, 222 Taco

Visionary Anna Robbins has been bridging cultural gaps between the East and West Coasts for over a decade. With a strong history as an accomplished entrepreneur in the community, Anna has passionately contributed to cultivating Miami’s food, beverage, art and music scenes since she arrived in 2003. Most notably, the California native played a predominant role in the success of Midtown’s Bardot from 2009-2012 and continued on to found Wynwood’s Coyo Taco in 2014 and 222 Taco in 2018.

Female entrepreneur, Anna Robins, is founder of fine-casual Cali-Mex neighborhood spot, 222 Taco, which opened in March 2018. Located in North Bay Village, the restaurant features a fun, approachable concept where family, friends, and couples can enjoy traditional Mexican comfort food. Cali-Mex favorites and a full-service margarita bar. The women-led company is intended to be a family-style destination by day and a late-night haven with music programming in the evenings. Wedged between mainland Miami and Miami Beach, 222 Taco serves as the perfect eatery to connect Miami communities through great food and cocktails.

Anna’s journey in the culinary industry began in Northern California at 15 years old, with jobs as a busser at a burger joint and hostess at a diner in her hometown. Upon graduating high school, she moved south to attend the prestigious University of California at Santa Barbara, where she received BAs in both Communications and Cultural Anthropology. During her college years, she continued to work in the hospitality field while simultaneously starting a career in the music industry as the manager of a local band. After receiving her degrees, Anna moved to Los Angles where she worked at live music venues, which segued into a gig as Cody ChesnuTT’s tour manager, and traveled the country with Grammy Award winners Erykah Badu and The Roots. The tour eventually led her to Miami and her love affair with the Magic City began.

Upon her arrival in 2003, this self-proclaimed Urban Anthropologist planted her roots in Miami’s Buena Vista community, adjacent to the Design District. Discovering a developing city in its infancy, lacking the caliber of food, beverage, art and entertainment she had grown up with in California, inspired her dream of one day opening an authentic taqueria. She nurtured this dream for over a decade until it finally manifested as Wynwood’s Coyo Taco.

Ana views her immersion in Miami’s culinary and nightlife scenes as fieldwork crucial to understanding all aspects of the industry. Anna attributes her success as an entrepreneur to a combination of studying and participating in the field along with building strong relationships in the community.

With her past experiences and newly found business 222 Taco, Anna has proven she’s got “the sauce” for creating institutions in Miami’s blossoming food and beverage industry. At her newest creation, every day is National Margarita Day as the name of the restaurant indicates. 222 is not only National Margarita Day (February 22), but it is also owner Anna’s angel number (a sequence of numbers that carry divine guidance). She created this concept with the intention of providing a safe haven for those who want to enjoy good music, good drinks and good company.
