Born in Kedah, Malaysia, Chef Lo was raised with the bold, unapologetic flavors and textures filling hawker stalls across the streets of Asia. To say he grew up in restaurants would be an understatement, as he often spent more time at his family’s restaurant than at his home – an experience that encouraged him to grow his culinary talents and feed his passion for daring street food flavors. Allen eventually brought his passion to the states, where he began making his impact on the U.S. restaurant scene through culinary, operational, and franchisee work. Inspired by travels and memories of his childhood, Allen expanded the reach of that impact when he opened Hawkers Asian Street Food in 2011, alongside his best friends Kaleb, Kin, and Wayne. Opening first in Orlando, Fla., Hawkers Asian Street Food now has 13 locations across 7 states and was recently named an official 2022 Michelin Guide Recommendation by the inaugural Florida Michelin Guide. Focused primarily on generations-old family recipes, the Hawkers menu highlights the characteristics that make street food so special: vibrancy, boldness, and distinction seamlessly working together to create an explosion of flavors that can best be described in one word – adventure.
