Alex Martinez was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Alex moved to Miami un 2002 looking for a better life and found his first job working the dishwasher at El Forno Italian restaurant. Alex’s first job in the restaurant industry sparked a passion that Alex had never felt previously. Alex took a deep interest in learning dish conceptualization and precise execution and would stay extra hours off the clock to learn the specialty dishes. Alex’s ambition was rewarded with a quick promotion to line cook and Alex was able to harness his zeal into a high intensity kitchen. Alex yearned for guest smiles and was proud of his Honduran work ethic that allowed him to execute complex Italian dishes. Alex went on to learn more Italian cuisine and augmented his skill set by learning Thai, Sushi and Mexican cuisine from other concepts. Alex was sous chef at the ever popular 1 800 Lucky in Wynwood. At Huahua’s Taqueria Alex was given the opportunity to lead a team and execute dishes that borrow elements from a variety of cultures. Alex prides himself to execute Huahua’s cuisine with its fresh ingredients that contribute to unique and colorful tacos that Miami has enjoyed for over 7 years.
