Chef Akino grew up and began his culinary knowledge in his hometown, Riviera Beach, Florida. After excelling in vocational programming, while in high school; Akino decided to make the progressive move by attending Johnson & Wales University in North Miami Beach FL. After four 4 years of
dedication, Chef West graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Food Service Management while working his way up to being the Executive Sous Chef at the James Beard award-winning, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink.

West then made a progressive career move to work amongst the best of the industry, at the two Michelin-star rated, 2010-2012, and 2014’s
number 1 restaurant in the world, NOMA, in Copenhagen, Denmark. West made the modest move back to South Florida to take on a position
at an executive level at Verde Restaurant, Perez Art Museum Miami. He was honored to accept an position from his friend/mentor Chef Niven
Patel, at the awarded winning Ghee Indian Kitchen. West has been the COO of Copper Door Properties Corporation since March 2017and opened The Copper Door B&B in 2018.

After South Florida’s tourism industry came to halt when mid- March 2020, West’s bed and breakfast was forced to temporarily shut down. Due to a dire need to generate revenue and in hopes of maintaining his payroll. He pivoted his business strategy and decided to open Rosie’s Pop-Up alongside his partner. The pop-up serves comfort food, in a style that represents Chef West’s dynamic background.
