Born in Miami, Florda, Abel Veulens knew at a young age that he wanted to become a chef. After attending FIU he went on to Le Cordon Bleu, where he honed his passion for the culinary arts. After finishing school. Veulens then went on to start his career with Chef Michael Mina. After many years with the company he took on a new role sous chef for Chef Scott Conant at Corsair miami. He went on to work at Scarpetta at the world renown fountain bleu. Veulens then went on to work for many Chefs including Tom Colichhio at Beachcraft located inside the beautiful 1 Hotel. He then went on to become the Executive Chef of the Ritz Carlton in coconut grove, where he opened the modern American restaurant Isabelle’s. Chef Veulens later took on the role as the Chef de Cuisine at Byblos restaurant in miami beach, Florida which has been on the list of Miami’s best restaurants for years. He has also made several television appearances, most notably winning supermarket stake-out on the Food Network, where Veulens dominated his competition in a head to head culinary competition. After many years at Byblos he went on to open the First Hotel in Wynwood, the Arlo Hotel, home of Marygold’s Florida brasserie. Most recently, Veulens is the Executive Chef of Sofia in Miami’s design district, where he hopes to bring his talent and experience to an already amazing Italian eatery in the heart of Miami. Veulens has become most known for his passion and creativity for food, always pushing the boundaries of his culinary experience.
