Chef Abdel Makdad is Chef de Cuisine of La Côte, an outdoor, oceanside, Mediterranean bistro at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. A native of Casablanca, Morocco who grew up in
Queens, New York, Chef Makdad brings more than a decade of professional culinary experience and a lifetime of passion to his role overseeing La Côte’s kitchen staff and
ensuring the restaurant exceeds standards for food preparation and the guest experience. Chef Makdad began his professional journey as a prep cook in a number of Manhattanarea French bistros – Benoit, Allegretti, and Balthazar, among others — while attending the Art Institute of New York City. He later held multiple roles at Soho House, including events chef, production chef, and task force executive sous chef. Chef Makdad joined La Côte in October 2022, making Miami Beach his new home. Chef Makdad holds a degree in culinary arts and restaurant management.
