South Florida favorite, cookbook author and the only Floridian chef inducted into the prestigious James Beard list of “Who’s Who in American Food and Beverage,” Chef Norman Van Aken invites attendees to view the world through his culinary lense “In the Kitchen with Norman Van Aken” - Van Aken’s joint venture with restaurateur, Candace Walsh, which focuses on all things food and beverage. Known for introducing ‘fusion’ into the lexicon of modern cookery, Van Aken opens his kitchen to Tung Nguyen and Katherine Manning, the masterminds at the helm of the infamous Hy Vong on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Together, Nguyen and Manning turned Hy Vong into a beloved city landmark, whose critically acclaimed food was praised in city guidebooks and on national best-of lists. Join this talented trio as they provide an afternoon of intimate and interactive hands-on instruction for aspiring food enthusiasts, while teaching them to prepare some of their most iconic dishes and followed by a delicious lunch complemented by wines from the Patz & Hall portfolio!
