THE 2020 FESTIVAL RAISED NEARLY $2 MILLION TO EAT. DRINK. EDUCATE. AND IS CONTINUING TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE AID TO RESTAURANTS AND BARS WITH THE SOBEWFF® & FIU CHAPLIN SCHOOL HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY RELIEF FUND

– The Festival will return for its 20th anniversary February 24 – 28, 2021 –

Miami Beach, Florida (June 29, 2020) – Widely known as America’s favorite gourmet gathering on the sand, the 19th annual Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One® (SOBEWFF®) hosted more than 110 events to EAT. DRINK. EDUCATE. February 19 – 23, 2020. Spanning Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, the Festival raised nearly $2 million for the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University and served as an interactive educational platform for more than 1,200 students throughout the weekend. To date, the Festival has raised more than $31 million since its inception to support the education of the future leaders of the hospitality industry.

In order to provide immediate financial support to the independently owned and operated restaurants and bars who have served SOBEWFF® and its mission and whose employees have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (SOBEWFF®) launched the SOBEWFF® & FIU Chaplin School Hospitality Industry Relief Fund, which has raised  $1.6 million since its launch in late March 2020. An initial founding donation of $500,000 from the Festival’s benefiting charity, Florida International University’s (FIU) Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, along with significant additional financial support from Founding Partners Bacardi USA, Badia Spices, Luxco, Mast-Jägermeister US, Miami Downtown Development Authority, Shaw-Ross International Importers, Voli 305 Vodka, and many others who have so generously donated to the Fund, has helped provide immediate aid to over 500 South Florida restaurants and bars.

In an effort to bring the community together and raise additional funds for the cause, Lee Brian Schrager, Founder and Director (SOBEWFF®), hosted a series of socially distanced bake sales, which took place at his Coral Gables home each Sunday over the course of six weeks. The Lee Brian Schrager “Putting on the Pounds (LBS)” Bake Sale partnered with top South Florida chefs, restaurants, and vendors to offer hundreds of hungry drive-thru customers a variety of carefully crafted gourmet goodies to enjoy at home. The bake sale also boasted a slew of local celebrity hosts and special guests, who all donated their time in support of this wonderful cause. With the support of Badia Spices, who generously matched the proceeds from multiple bake sales, the Lee Brian Schrager “Putting on the Pounds (LBS)” Bake Sale raised over $100,000 for the Fund in just five Sundays.
