Bread is truly one of the great levelers of the food world. Nearly every cuisine has its own version of this deeply satisfying kitchen staple -- from Italy’s flat focaccias to the charred, puffed naans of India. For this SOBEWFF® hands-on master class, you’ll learn how to make one of the most versatile and well-loved breads -- sourdough -- from the master baker himself, Zak Stern (aka Zak the Baker).
Join our hospitality community’s resident mensch at SGWS Wynwood, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits’ hospitality center located just around the corner from Stern’s bustling bakery, as he teaches you both the theoretical and practical framework behind his top-secret recipe. You’ll learn how to mix, shape, bake and preserve your crusty disc-like creations using some of the best ingredients, equipment, and tools available, capped off by an informative Q&A aimed at all bread lovers -- everyone from a home cook to a budding professional baker. Complete with step-by-step instructions and insider tips for preparing the perfect loaf, this fun-filled morning has a winning recipe of its own: equal parts education and entertainment. And yes, we used our measuring cups.
All proceeds from the Festival benefit the students of the Florida International University Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management who assist Festival organizers in all aspects, including Festival planning, logistics and overall execution.
All guests, talent, staff, students and working personnel at all event venues will be required to complete a digital health screening through SymCheck™. This includes attestation of either: a negative COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to the event OR completed vaccination plus presentation of a cleared SymCheck™ QR Code. Anyone presenting symptoms on arrival will be denied entry.

- You acknowledge that you (and all ticketed attendees) will complete a required SymCheck™ Screening & Health questionnaire on the day you are attending a SOBEWFF® event.
- You acknowledge that you (and all ticketed attendees) will be required to attest to either a negative COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to the event(s) you are attending or completed vaccination.
- You (and all ticketed attendees) understand that by attending SOBEWFF® and therefore being subject to these COVID-19 Protocols, SOBEWFF® reserves the right to refuse entry or remove an individual from an event if any such protocols are breached.
