That is the driving force behind its role as host of the Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One, which has raised more than $31.8 million for FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center.

“Besides being one of the premier food and wine festivals in the nation, the event has helped to enable the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at FIU to maintain its reputation as one of the top hospitality programs in the U.S.,” said Southern Glazer’s Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Chaplin. “We remain committed to the education of the hospitality industry’s future leaders and want to continue to do our part to provide them with an exceptional learning experience.”

Southern Glazer’s commitment to hospitality education also includes investing in its own people to produce the most highly trained workforce in the industry. The Company currently has more certified wine experts than any other North American wine and spirits distributor. Its employees have successfully completed more than 10,700 wine, sake and spirits education programs, from introductory to master-level achievements.

In addition to promoting education, the Company is committed to supporting members of the hospitality industry experiencing hardship. Southern Glazer’s works closely with CORE: Children of Restaurant Employees, a national 501(c)3 founded by industry veterans, dedicated to serving food and beverage service employees with children when either the working parent or child is navigating through a medical diagnosis, illness, injury, a death, or impacted by a natural disaster. In addition to a $25,000 grant to support members of the hospitality industry facing crisis, Southern Glazer’s provides CORE with communications support and employee, customer, and supplier engagement.
