Sami Rodríguez is a classically trained chef and an event designer with a flawless sense of style. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he developed a love for the arts at an early age. That love turned into passion and led him to the historic Southeast Georgia city of Savannah to pursue a design career and accomplished a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Art History at the Savannah College of Art and Design, consistently regarded as one of the best art colleges of the nation.

After college, Sami moved to New York City where his career incorporated fashion, interior, graphic, set design and art curation. In 2002, while working in the art world, he discovered a new love and passion for the culture of cuisine and hospitality. He attended the International Culinary Center, also known as the French Culinary Institute where he trained among award winner master chefs including Andre Soltner, Jacques Pepin and Jacques Torres, earning a Grande Diplome in Classic Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

In 2004, he relocated to Miami, where his culinary career blossomed working in kitchens of chefs such as Douglas Rodriguez from OLA Miami, James Wierzelewski from Vix at the newly renovated Hotel Victor South Beach and María Frumkin from Duo Restaurant & Bar. He made a shift to the event industry which started in 2006, when he joined the creative team of Touch Catering in Miami Beach led by Chef Sean Brasel producing numerous celebrity weddings and renowned events, including the Super Bowl, Art Basel Miami Beach and the Nasdaq Tennis Tournament, among others.

In 2008, his unique style, love and passion for the art of celebrations made him a visionary innovator as he founded his first business Sami & Co.; a Miami based chic boutique firm of event design and catering dedicated to orchestrate unforgettable moments in people’s lives. This venture got him a nomination as “Event Designer of the Year” for the People’s Choice Award by BizBash Magazine and also became a managing director of the multimillion dollar Sea Fair Mega Yacht.

In 2017, along with a team of passionate hospitality experts he launched his newest enterprise; Love & Spice Hospitality Curators. A new, exciting, social catering concept which brings their experience in high-end experiential events at unique venues together. The firm is dedicated to produce pop-up experiences that elevate and awaken all the senses, turning ordinary events into extraordinary and timeless memories for their guests. Their approach to food and drink as fantasies, as love catalysts, as art is a conduit to transform New American Cuisine with a fusion of international flavors and tantalizing Craft Cocktails, bringing a decadent new flair to the classics. In December of the same year, Sami launched Love & Spice with a Pinch of Salt, which is the firm’s first official pop up restaurant in Miami. It debuted at Untitled Art 2017 during Art Basel Miami Beach Week as the main food and beverage concession of this prestigious contemporary art fair and continues to “pop up” in unique locations throughout the city.

As a “curator of joy” and an impeccable host, Sami continues to produce fabulous events for local socialites and celebrities. His work is often referred to as art installations, as he brings people together in a harmony of elegant environments, unique ambiances, exquisite cuisine and cocktails, cutting edge design, flowers, exceptional service and meticulous attention to detail.
