A native of Puerto Rico, Chef Jorge has always been around a melting pot of fond food memories.

His love for the kitchen began at a very early age, growing up in Miami it was hard not to fall in love with its cultural melting pot of cuisine and flavors, this lead led him to Johnson & Wales University where he graduated with a BA in Culinary Arts.

While in school Jorge traveled abroad to Germany, Switzerland, and France to expand his culinary horizons, inspired by his culinary mentor Chef Marc Ehrler.

Jorge’s career began as he interned at one of Miami Beach’s most prolific hotels, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

In his five year tenure at the hotel Jorge worked his way up the ladder and held various positions while honing his skills, and interest in his trade. During his tenure there he trained under many great chefs such as “Maitre Cuisinier de France” Chef Marc Ehrler; now VP of Culinary for Hilton Hotels Americas.

Chef Jorge was instrumental in many of the hotel’s numerous hosted events such as the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, where he was a chef assistant to world renowned chefs such as Gray Kunz, Jose Andres, and Michel Richard, and Laurent Gras to name a few, through those experiences it’s only natural that new opportunities arose.

Chef Jorge has worked and has been a part of the opening of some amazing hotels such as The W Fort Lauderdale, Loews Atlanta, The Viceroy Miami, The Ritz Carlton South Beach, and Bal Harbour and The 1 Hotel & Homes, South Beach, working for Tom Collichio and his Crafted Hospitality Group.

Those experiences have led Chef Jorge to both busy and successful F&B Operations, rebranding and developing the properties outlets, the banquet and catering experience and ultimately creating memorable experiences for the countless guests of both the hotel and restaurants.

His drive and love for cooking has consistently allowed the resorts teams to book groups, special events, and expanded the repeat business at many of these properties.

It’s a bit of a 360° for Chef Jorge, as Executive Chef for Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach, he will once again work closely with Chef Marc Ehrler in establishing the hotel’s footprint in the luxury market of Fort Lauderdale whilst focusing heavily in the local relationships with artisans, farmers, and growers in the area allowing him to showcase the best products the seasons yield through the resorts multiple outlets and catering venues.

Many of Jorge’s success have been chronicled in local media locally in Miami and in Puerto Rico, he was part of the “National Culinary Team” in which he represented the Island in the “Taste of the Caribbean” competition held every year showcasing the Caribbean’s best chefs. He led the team to various accolades including Team Spirit Award, Team Silver Medal, respectively a bronze medal for The Chef of The Year Competition.

Chef Jorge is the prime example that ambition, hard work and dedication can lead to the career of your dreams.
