Horacio RivaderoPlant Miami
Renowned Executive Chef Horacio Rivadero, brought the essential flavors of Latin America to South Florida over ten years ago. He fancies combinations of Pan Latin, Spanish and Caribbean flavors and enjoys fusing them together to delight the palate. His passion for the culinary world began at an early age in Argentina, where he was born. His first introduction into the kitchen was by his mother who inspired him to always create dishes from scratch. By age 12, he was making sauces in the morning and washing glasses at night in a local restaurant. All the while, he had his eye on a move to the United States.
After arriving in the United States in 2001, he landed his first position at the wildly popular Miami seafood restaurant, Big Fish. He began by working as a dishwasher and worked his way all the way up to the Executive Chef position, which he held for two years. Along the way, he met and had the good fortune to develop a close relationship with the James Beard award-winning Chef, proclaimed by many to be the “Godfather of Nuevo Latino Cuisine,” Douglas Rodriguez. Chef Rodriguez became his mentor and took him under his wing. In 2004, Chef Horacio was selected by Chef Rodriguez to open the highly acclaimed OLA Restaurant in Miami, nationally ranked by Zagat. In 2012, Executive Chef Horacio received one of the premier culinary recognitions by Food and Wine Magazine, Best New Chef for the Gulf Region, 2012. Shortly after he became Executive Chef and Managing Partner at The District, where he won recognition as a James Beard Award semifinalist while at the pan-American eatery.
Looking for a new challenge, Chef Horacio joined Plant Miami (formerly Plant Food + Wine) at The Sacred Space Miami as part of the opening team. With his wife, Pastry Chef Veronica Manolizi, by his side the talented duo have risen to acclaim for their creative plant-based living food dishes. Sourcing produce and the edible flowers that gild many of the artistic plates from partner Paradise Farms in Homestead, Chef Horacio continues to be an avid supporter of local, vibrant, organic cuisine.
